HVLS Fan Installation – Warehouse Heat Mitigation Solution

About this Project

Empire Power recently completed a High-Volume Low-Speed (HVLS) fan installation for a warehouse facility in Gilroy, California, where excessive indoor heat was creating uncomfortable working conditions and raising concerns regarding employee safety and heat-related illness.

The facility experienced significant heat buildup throughout the warehouse during warmer months, especially in high-rack storage areas and production zones with limited airflow. The customer was exploring cooling solutions but wanted an option that would improve worker comfort and safety without the high installation and operating costs associated with a full commercial air conditioning system.

After evaluating the building layout and airflow challenges, Empire Power designed and installed an HVLS fan system to improve air circulation and create a more consistent, comfortable environment across the facility.

Scope of Work

  • Installed industrial HVLS ceiling fans throughout the warehouse
  • Provided dedicated electrical power and controls for the new equipment
  • Coordinated fan placement to maximize airflow coverage
  • Tested and commissioned the system for optimal performance and efficiency
  • Ensured installation met all applicable electrical and safety standards

Customer Benefits

The HVLS fan system dramatically improved airflow throughout the warehouse by continuously circulating large volumes of air at low speed. This created an immediate improvement in employee comfort while helping reduce heat stress in work areas that previously experienced stagnant hot air.

Key benefits of the installation include:

  • Improved Worker Comfort & Safety
The increased airflow creates an evaporative cooling effect on occupants, helping employees feel significantly cooler even during high outdoor temperatures. This directly supports worker safety initiatives by reducing the risk of heat-related fatigue and illness.
  • Cost-Effective Alternative to Air Conditioning
Compared to installing and operating a large commercial HVAC cooling system, HVLS fans provide a substantially lower-cost solution with far lower energy consumption and maintenance requirements.
    More Consistent Warehouse Temperatures
The fans help eliminate hot spots and stagnant air zones by continuously mixing air throughout the space, resulting in a more balanced indoor environment.
  • Energy Efficiency
HVLS fans move massive amounts of air while consuming relatively little power, making them an energy-efficient cooling strategy for large industrial and warehouse facilities.
  • Improved Air Quality & Ventilation
Enhanced airflow helps reduce stuffiness, humidity buildup, and airborne stagnation, contributing to a healthier and more productive work environment.
  • Year-Round Benefits
In addition to summer cooling, HVLS fans can assist with destratification during colder months by redistributing warm air trapped near the ceiling back down to occupied areas, potentially lowering heating costs.

This project provided the customer with a practical, long-term solution that improved warehouse conditions, supported employee well-being, and delivered a more economical alternative to traditional air conditioning systems.
